A new fire was lit in 2015 after a career change created a shift in priorities in her work and personal life. Carol is on the mat seven days a week and she delights in teaching introductory classes, slow and gentle yoga and has a deep love for a restorative practice. She knows that yoga is a life-long journey and has a passion for learning. Teacher training courses in Yoga for Menopause, Yoga for All Bodies and Accessible Yoga are next up for Carol. Outside of yoga, Carol is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Cultural Analysis and Social Theory. Her study interests lie in embodiment and alterity – specifically at the intersection of fatness and fitness. She yearns to create yoga spaces that respect all bodies and all abilities. What little time she has left in her week is spent with her husband and Chihuahua, napping or playing video games.
Kelly Mayville
Kelly began her yoga instructor journey at the age of 21 in Maui Hawaii as a student. Studying the art of Kundalini Yoga she came to learn that yoga is a spiritual practice as well as a physical discipline. Sharing the ancient teachings builds strong bonds in a community and a new way of life. Her personal yoga journey built a passion within her that ultimately led her to become an instructor herself. Kelly continues to embrace a student mindset through learning and improving her practice. By using her intuition to tune into the students in each class, she is able to modify the practice to fit the unique needs of each student. Kelly completed her Level One Instructor Training with The Kundalini Research Institute from 2012 to 2015. Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement with breath, mantra and meditation. The practice places a strong emphasis on consciousness as a means of activating energy centres throughout the body. Through specific combinations of angles and repetitive motions, specific results (such as anxiety reduction and cleansing of the lymph system) can be achieved. Yin yoga is a practice that embraces divine feminine energy. It embraces the concept of “in the non-doing, great things are accomplished.” Through deep, long held stretches, one can encourage the connective tissues, bones and ligaments to heal. It can also help release old stories and traumas held within the body. Kelly completed her Yin Yoga Teacher Training with The Yoga Sanctuary in April 2014.
